Jesus’ Prayers
The most notable case of a seemingly unanswered prayer in scripture is
the petition Jesus made to the Father from the Garden of Gethsemane,
while in agony. But it really wasn’t a rejected prayer, as much as it was a
pronouncement for our benefit, telling of the willingness of Christ to do
the Father’s will, and to suffer and die to save us. In truth, while not even
the son of man could look forward to the coming agony, we know that as
the redeemer, nothing would have kept him off that cross. He was at
peace with his mission and in perfect alignment with the Father’s will to
fulfill the covenant from before the foundation of the world.
