Eternal Life
Many people get off track on this subject by taking those Scriptures
that refer to temporal falls and backslidings as meaning the loss of
spiritual life. For instance, they think the fall mentioned in Galatians
5:4 means a fall from eternal life, when in fact it refers to being led
away from reliance upon the grace of God to relying upon their own
works. It has nothing whatsoever to do with losing eternal salvation.
“But Israel (God’s elect) shall be saved in the Lord with an ever-
lasting salvation” (Isa. 45:17).
If salvation could be lost
it would not be everlasting.
Again, the Lord’s declaration is,
“They shall never perish,”
and never means never.
