P. 3
“I give unto them eternal life; and
they shall never perish” John 10:28
might
Does never mean ‘might?”
Jesus speaks here of his sheep, his elect family, and de-
clares that they shall never lose the eternal life he gives
them. And he goes further and asserts that no man shall
ever pluck them out of his hand. He makes it very clear
that no man is able to pluck them out of the Father’s hand
either. And to even further show their eternal security he declares,
“I and my Father are one.” So in order for a child of God to lose
eternal life he would have to first be plucked out the hands
of both the Father and the Son. And in order for that to
happen there would have to be some power stronger than God.
But can we leave that safety anytime?
Or fall if we stop believing? Or stop
going to church? What if we decide we
don’t want eternal life? What if Jesus
can’t keep me safe all the way to heaven?
